Why a Personal Website

In an age where social media dominates the way we share our lives, it’s easy to forget that there are other options out there. A personal website can be your own little corner of the internet, where you can share photos, videos, and thoughts without the pressure of a larger audience. It’s a safe haven for those moments you want to cherish that might not resonate with everyone on your social media feeds.

How I Started

Building a personal website might sound daunting, but it’s easier than you think! Even I can do it! Websites like WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace offer user-friendly interfaces that can have you up and running in no time. Most are simple templates you edit, as you might do with a Word document. Click and drag. Copy and paste. No code needed... much quicker and easier to build than hand coding. Once you’re set up, you’ll want to customize it by adding your own flair—think about the colors, fonts, and layouts that match your style.

What to Include

Your personal website is a blank canvas! You can add photos and videos to showcase your hobbies, travels, or special moments with friends. Maybe you love photography, and you want to create a gallery of your best shots. You could also include a blog section to write about your thoughts, experiences, or any hobbies you’re passionate about. This way, you can keep your comments and ideas in a space designed just for you, free from the judgmental eyes of acquaintances or family you’d rather keep out of certain aspects of your life.

Don’t forget about privacy settings if you choose to use a website builder. Depending on the platform, you can often select who sees your content, ensuring your personal thoughts remain just that—personal.

A Place for Getting Personal

Your website isn’t just a gallery; it’s a way for you to engage with the world on your own terms. You can control feedback through comment sections and decide whether you’d like that space to be open for discussion or strictly private. This empowers you to maintain the delicate balance between sharing and retreating into your bubble when needed. No more worrying about likes or shares; it’s just you and your creations!

The Gallery

If you've come this far you deserve a reward! Soon I'll be adding a link to a new gallery of images and video... things that I've never posted on Facebook, Instagram, X or Tic Toc... new stuff! Just another way to stay in touch... thanks for visiting!

Generic images for now... update is underway!
